10 Reasons Why Inbound > Outbound

BACK TO ARTICLES

“Don’t find customers for your products, find products for your customers.” -Seth Godin

Out with the outbound and In with the inbound. Before I give you a neat 1-10 list, lets define our terms.

Inbound Marketing: The “new” marketing, where customers aren’t bothered. Inbound Marketers expect their customers to come to them. Inbound marketing focuses on earning their prospects attention, not demanding it.

Outbound Marketing: Usually practiced by cold calls, print, TV and radio advertising, outbound marketing is one-way communication.

Now that you know the difference between these 2 marketing strategies—Here’s why I think inbound marketing is better… way better than outbound.

1. Inbound customers come to you.

In order for this to take place the marketers actually have to care. It takes time and effort to educate prospects, but it’s the prospects who benefit in the end.

2. Inbound can be monitored.

(and your boss loves monitored things, really impress him with these 6 marketing metrics)

No more spending money on ad space without real monitored results. Whens the last time you bought something from a radio ad? Television ad? Newspaper ad? … Exactly.

3. On average, inbound costs less.

Inbound harnesses the power of online resources… most of which are available once you’ve created a (free) email address.

4. Customers aren’t paying attention to ad space.

They’re in control of the information they receive. Inbound educates, it doesn’t just advertise.

5. Inbound creates trust.

If they trust you to educate them they’ll trust you to educate their customers.

6. Interruption vs. Permission

Inbound asks permission to be apart of your clients life. Its their choice to read your blog or download your E-Book. Outbound calls you at home, sends you spam emails you didn’t ask for and interrupts your favorite tunes.

Exhibit A: Its your choice to download this awesome E-book to look further into the world of Inbound, as told by our Huify Knights.

7. Inbound is customer focused not marketer focused.

I just wanted to drive this point home. If you haven’t figured this out yet… Inbound invites you to participate. Its like a friend on the playground who asks if you want to play tag… not the bully who pushes you out of nowhere and says “you’re it!”

8. Inbound is FUN.

Social media began as a personal tool for networking. Inbound turns fun into an effective tool.

9. Inbound has Hubspot.

Hubspot is an awesome state-of-the-art resource and they pride themselves in educating the marketer. Hubspot is the go-to for inbound information. They love all inbound marketers and give amazing free resources out everyday.

10. Help is everywhere.

Hubspot is the number 1 helper but there are many more advocates and resources out there for beginners…. just Google “how to inbound marketing” and you’ll see what I mean.
