Top 10 iPhone Apps of 2014 for Marketing DirectorsThese are 10 apps (plus a bonus one at the end!) that have helped me get the most from my iPhone 5. They are mainly selected with a Marketing Director in mind, range from tracking to organizing tools, and they are awesome!

1. Signals by HubSpot

This tool allows you to become the ninja assassin of email. It will notify you every time the email is opened, who opened it, the device it was opened on (mobile or desktop), the location it was opened from (tracked by IP address), and each time a link inside the email has been clicked. I have learned a lot about my prospect’s email habits through this tool: how many times they will typically open an email, different times of the day they will check email, how often they forward email, and many more helpful insights.

2. Evernote

This organization tool has is designed for notetaking and archiving. Streamlining discussions, searching handwritten notes, cloud based access, and many more features are used by my team on a daily basis. It is very easy to use and implement.

3. Google Apps

Is basically a cloud based version of the Microsoft Office suite, meaning everything is accessible wherever you are, and on all of your devices. I started using Google Drive (one of the Google Business Apps) when I was in college after having issues with my laptop that caused me to have to use loaner laptops and university library computers. I instantly fell in love with the app for giving me the ability to work from any device without losing any traction. Everything saves instantly and allows for virtual group cooperation, meaning that everyone can live edit the same document and all the group members can view the progress or scan the revision history. Watch this funny short video below to get a full grasp of the awesomeness of Google Apps.

4. Bitly

The ultimate URL shortener and tracker. Bitly is a beautiful tool that allows you shorten long URLs and track the number of clicks they receive... for free! Signing up for a free account will give you the ability to store your URLs (bitmarks), customize their look (i.e. bit.ly/joshharcus), and track their progress, geographic location of traffic, and some referring websites. BONUS: You can add a “+” to the end of any Bitly url (including branded ones like Amazon’s link: amzn.to) to see all of the analytics for that link as well who created the link.

Try it out by clicking this link: http://huify.co/UnlockROI
Now add the “+” symbol to make it: http://huify.co/UnlockROI+
Pretty cool, huh?

5. HubSpot Social Inbox

Watch this video to see how it works:

This tool is awesome for scheduling, monitoring, and tracking the progress of the social content we are sharing. It helps streamline internal company communication in tandem with the customer communication on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Google+, Pinterest, and more.

6. IFTTT

“IF This Then That” automates the web. Without needing to know the complexities with different APIs, I am able to sync tools like Instagram and Twitter (click here for the recipe). Evernote, Google Drive, Twitter, my iPhone, and Facebook Pages are just a few of many different channels I have activated with IFTTT.

7. UberConference

One of the best solutions for conference calls. I’ve used almost every conference calling tool out there, and this one has to be the simplest. Other tools like GoToMeeting and Webex are very annoying to use and take a lot of software space. UberConference is easy to use, simple to launch, and fun to customize. You can be set up with an account within the next 2 minutes (after reading the rest of this post of course).

8. Toggl

“Insanely simple time tracking. Toggl kills timesheets.” Their slogan pretty much sums it all up. Toggl is a time tracking solution that is easy to use. The tool integrates with Google Drive, GitHub, Trello, Podio, Basecamp, RedMine, TechCrunch, GitLab, PivotalTracker, Sifter, and many more that you can see in the image below.

Toggl Integrates with all of these tools

9. Mailbox

Email organization and sanity. My email inbox looks like most people's... full. Mailbox has helped me sort through the clutter of my emails, filing important ones for later thought or follow up, and archiving the masses that are unneeded. Definitely a great addition to my phone and is far superior to other mobile email clients out there.

10. LinkedIn Contacts

Whether it is a birthday, new job, work anniversary, or article in the news Contacts helps me stay on top of what important events are happening lives of my connections. Every morning I check this tool to see who I should congratulate. Just 5-10 minutes in exchange for the ability to make someone’s day with a quick note is not a bad trade off.

Bonus: Facebook Messenger

Helps me stay connected with my friends, family, and coworkers while I am on the go or at my desk. Typically, my email gets bogged down very quickly and the best way to reach me is through Facebook Messenger. Since it is synced with the Facebook website, I can easily decide to answer from my phone or my desktop depending on which is more convenient.

Quick Hack: Occasionally I will send myself (by messaging myself) notes to view later. Different articles or ideas that pop in my head can be easily accessed through messenger without having to jump into a different tool like Evernote.

These are just a few apps that I really enjoy using on a daily basis. Are there any that have changed the way you use your phone? Feel free share them in the comments!
